The Fall Heard Around the World

If you saw someone with a toddler fall down the stairs at church yesterday...that was me.

We took little Sweet Cheeks to the Christmas Cantata at church yesterday and we have started sitting in the balcony. Once it was all over with we began the treacherous journey down the stairs. To paint a picture for you, it is about a 100 stair descend downward and although I am not a clumsy person, I do have my moments. So, any time I walk down stairs I always rhythmically march to, "left, right, left, right" just so there is no confusion.

Well, I made it down with only 3 steps to go and the next thing I know-I'm down. I spring back up, just hoping no one saw me. I look over to see that Button Nose is still tight in my arms, looking as though she felt nothing. Then, I see the worried look form, "Mommy, okay?". Great! People noticed. Everyone is staring at me and I begin to laugh. Anthony laughs.

We walk on and (and I try to get lost in the crowd) he asks the obvious question, "What happened?".

In moments like this I just kind of black out and come to later, because I couldn't remember what caused me to fall.

As we were walking to the car he began to describe the loud commotion it caused and just how loud the fall really was, and it hit me.

As I was walking down the stairs, "left, right, left, right", I saw a girl with the cutest pair of black riding boots that I had ever seen. She was a few steps below me on the other side of the stairs and I had been bobbing and weaving trying to decipher what brand they were. Right before the fall I remember an emblem on the back and I thought, "Are those Tory Burch?"...BAM! That's when I fell. I had lost my, "left, right, left, right" concentration.

So, these boots must have been really cute to risk my life.
Now they are just a faint, yet cute, memory at this point. Not knowing the brand will haunt me for the rest of my life.

Now that I think about it-if you saw someone fall with a toddler at church yesterday it...uh...wasn't me. Righhhhhhtttt.

  1. It could be worse....I fell in front of God and everyone at the outlet mall! I wish I was on a hunt to see a brand on a fabulous pair of shoes, but I just slipped on the curb and went straight down. It. was. funny.
